one-click-hosts?

one-click-hosts?

there sure is someone around who's got all the mixes, right? why not upload/mirror them onto an one-click-host (you know, unlimited traffic and space for free)?
those mixes are the most brilliant music i've ever heard, to know i'm missing out on 220 of them is kind of frustrating, especially if there's such an easy solution.
of course it would be an effort to upload 220 files, but you could do one a day and see how it works out.

so, what do you say?

edit
sry, overlooked karim's thread. an independent server would be awesome, but mind the expenses.

well, i have never thought of this... i guess the problem with one click hosts is the link expiry.

of course, if there was a group of volunteers, this message board could be used to maintain a list of one-click host download links... and said volunteers would update & re-upload the mixes when the links got expired.

also, disk space isn't as scarce commodity as it was back in the day, but bandwith still is.... so i'm afraid i probably couldn't afford to host all the mixes myself, even now (i could still ask mbar though).

does anyone know the expiry time rules for good one-click hosts? i've used zShare and divShare, but never paid for them.

the most freeuser-friendly (no waiting time, no captcha, decent download speed, multiple downloads at a time) would be mediafire.
according to this
[support.mediafire.com]
links dont expire, as long as the uploader logs in once in a while or any of his files is downloaded once in 30 days.
if the uploader has a paid account, links simply dont expire (as with all hosts, but we dont plan on doing that for bandwidth limitations).

a problem here is maximum filesize, which is 100mb, so some mixes still would have to be uploaded to different sites, like, you mentioned it, zshare: 500mb, 60 days expiration. they say parallel downloads are "very limited", but i could download 5 files simultaneously, which should be more than enough.

so i'd suggest zshare for all files and aditionally mediafire for those under 100mb. once they're up it should be possible to automate a keepalive-download every month to reduce upload-trouble.

(of course there are more hosts like rapidshare, netload, megaupload etc, but those are too much of a hassle, when it comes to downloading as a free user)

It seems that every thread started in this forum eventually fades to black. Can we actually get a little momentum going on this particular thread? This seems like a great idea - one that many have been waiting for. I have the following mixes:

132, 187, 189, 190, 191, 194, 197, 200-204, 206-216, 220-276

If anyone needs any of those mixes, feel free to connect to my FTP server and get them. I've taken the time to include the text files and mix cover images in each folder. The FTP information is: madmvd.homeip.net, username: motw, password: motw.

I realize many of these mixes are already on the main MOTW page - consider this a mirror. My upload caps at 200 kilobytes/sec. Let's see some people take initiative and host those older mixes - it doesn't take much effort!
